Michael M. Stringfield:  

Married to a little red head since 1972. Have 4 wonderful daughters and 11 grandkids. My work years are not worth talking about. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with AML Leukemia and the doctors tried to kill me with chemo but it didn't work. I went to CITY OF HOPE and had a stem cell transplant and I am doing as good or better then most who have had my cancer. I am still talking but the topics are much lighter because of the brain cells that left me during the chemo. I am retired because the stem cell transplant killed my imune system . My biggest joy in life is time with my grandkids. You know it is funny because I ran into someones little sister while I was in City of Hope and we stayed in touch because we set our outpatient appointments up for the same days. We lost her about 6 months ago and it was like a family death. We kept each other going I am now just getting over it. The family and the doctor now watch that I don't connect with another patient because they were afraid I was going to follow her. I like being with my family too much for that.
